9 And as they were descending the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying, Tell the vision to no man, until the Son of man be raised again from the dead.
10 And his disciples asked him, saying, Why then say the scribes, that Elijah must first come?
11 And Jesus answered and said to them, Elijah truly will first come, and restore all things:
12 But I say to you, that Elijah is come already, and they knew him not, but have done to him whatever they pleased: likewise will also the Son of man suffer by them.
13 Then the disciples understood that he spoke to them concerning John the Baptist.
14 And when they had come to the multitude, there came to him a certain man kneeling down to him, and saying,
17:12But I say unto you, That Elias is come already, and they knew him not, but have done unto him whatsoever they listed. Likewise shall also the Son of man suffer of them.
17:12But I tell you, Elijah has already come, and they did not recognize him, but have done to him everything they wished. In the same way the Son of Man is going to suffer at their hands."
