20 Now what I write to you, behold, before God, I do not lie.

21 Then I came into the regions of Syria and Cilicia.

22 But I was unknown personally to the assemblies of Judaea which are in Christ;

23 only they were hearing that he who persecuted us formerly now announces the glad tidings of the faith which formerly he ravaged:

24 and they glorified God in me.

1:23But they had heard only, That he which persecuted us in times past now preacheth the faith which once he destroyed.

1:23They only heard the report: "The man who formerly persecuted us is now preaching the faith he once tried to destroy."

1:23But they had heard only: He, who persecuted us in times past, doth now preach the faith which once he impugned:

1:23but they only heard say, He that once persecuted us now preacheth the faith of which he once made havoc;

1:23but they only heard say, He that once persecuted us now preacheth the faith of which he once made havock;

1:23But they had heard only, That he who persecuted us in times past, now preacheth the faith which once he destroyed.

1:23but they only heard: |He who once persecuted us now preaches the faith that he once tried to destroy.|

1:23and only they were hearing, that 'he who is persecuting us then, doth now proclaim good news — the faith that then he was wasting;'
